LSU Football Championship Coaches Signed Print – 1930 Tiger Stadium

For over a century, football has been one of Louisiana’s greatest passions. Fonville Winans, the most legendary photographer in Louisiana’s history, devoted his work to capturing campus life and LSU football in the early 20th century. His 1930s image of the East Side of Tiger Stadium is one of his most iconic photos.

In 2005, the idea of garnering the autograph of Paul Dietzel for this acclaimed photo was born. Paul Dietzel served as LSU’s Head Football Coach from 1955 through 1961 and won the first LSU National Championship. After obtaining Coach Dietzel’s autograph on two original photos, Head Coach Nick Saban, who coached the Tigers to the 2003 National Championship, added his autograph to the photos. One of the originals with the two signatures was donated to a Baton Rouge church for a fundraising event. In 2009, the second original was signed by Coach Les Miles, Head Coach who led the team to their 2007 National Championship. In October of 2020, Head Coach Ed Orgeron, who led the team to the 2019 National Championship, added his autograph.

Each signed print includes a certificate with a brief history of the image. Standard print size is 11×14 with larger sizes available upon request to fonvillew@gmail.com.

This is highly coveted photograph and the only known LSU sports memorabilia with all four LSU National Championship coaches’ autographs. This is a reproduction print of the original and only available through the Fonville Winans historical photography collection.

A special thank you to Steve Kleinpeter for his extraordinary efforts in making this historic photo possible for LSU fans to enjoy near and far.

Geaux Tigers!
